Volunteer at the PGA Championship in CharlotteHas it always been your dream to attend a PGA Championship? This year’s PGA Championship will be held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from August 7-13. Just as they have in years past, the PGA is looking for volunteers to help ensure this year’s tournament runs smoothly. A recent blog post outlined the fact that the PGA Championship is sold out this year, with tickets only available via PrimeSport. If you’re looking for a way to witness a major championship while being up close to the golfers you idolize for a fraction of the cost, this could be your chance!

A Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

PGA Championship Director Jason Mengel said, “If you are a sports fan, participating as a volunteer at the PGA Championship is a great way to soak up the atmosphere and interact with people from all over the world who are attending one of the largest sporting events of the year. It’s also a very cost-effective way to attend the Championship, as volunteers will enjoy access to the grounds all week long – plus several other perks including a custom volunteer uniform, special discount in the Championship Shops, and food and water vouchers – all for less than two-thirds the cost of a regular weekly grounds pass.”

Could Volunteering be Right for you?

The PGA needs more than 3,400 volunteers in order to successfully execute the PGA Championship. Many of these spots have already been filled by volunteers from previous years, or by volunteers who typically work the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. If you’re interested in volunteering, you should register as soon as possible at www.pgachampionship.com. Volunteers must be at least 22 years old. As a volunteer, you’re required to pay your own airfare and hotel, just like you would if you were attending the event as a fan. Volunteers are also required to pay a $193 fee for their volunteer package, which includes the items outlined in Mengel’s statement.

As a volunteer, you will work 12 – 16 hours leading up to and during the week of the event. If you’re not working, you’re encouraged to enjoy the championship. Volunteers will also receive complimentary parking and a credential valid for the entirety of the tournament.
