Location Set for the 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship Recently, the PGA of America announced that Hazeltine National will host the 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, to be held June 20-23, 2019. The Women’s PGA Championship offers one of the highest purses in women’s golf.

A Storied History

Hazeltine National Golf Club is in Chaska, Minnesota – a place you may not exactly think to be a hotbed for golf. In fact, this will be the first time the Women’s PGA Championship is held in Minnesota. But, Hazeltine is a gorgeous club that has hosted many big tournaments.

Just recently, Hazeltine played host to the 41st Ryder Cup. In years past, the course has hosted the U.S. Women’s Open in 1966 and 1977, the U.S. Open in 1970 and 1991, the U.S. Senior Open in 1983, and the PGA Championships in 2002 and 2009.

Pete Bevacqua, the CEO of PGA of America, said in a press release, “The PGA of America is delighted to bring the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and the greatest women players in the world, to one of the country’s great venues and the site of the 2016 Ryder Cup. Hazeltine National Golf club was built to host majors and its membership, along with exceptional sports fans throughout Minnesota, embrace golf. We are excited for what lies ahead in 2019 and for our continued relationship with major championship golf at Hazeltine that will continue well into the future.”

More Than a Tournament

It was also announced that the KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit and the KPMG Future Leaders Program will also be held that weekend as means to inspire female leaders. Lynne Doughtie, the U.S. Chairman and CEO of KPMG, stated, “We are committed to elevating women on and off the golf course through the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and bringing this even to Hazeltine National Golf Club provides another world-class course on which the world’s best women golfers can compete. The KPMG Women’s Leadership Summit, which will be held on-site the day before the start of the Championship, is forging paths for the next generation of women leaders to move into the C-suite.
